Join us for Girls Night In, an evening of inspiration, empowerment, and truth, hosted by Shamila Dhana and Roni Edwards. This special event is designed for young people in the City, offering a safe and uplifting space to explore personal growth and resilience.

Through authentic and courageous conversations, we’ll hear inspiring stories from incredible women in our community who have faced challenges and emerged stronger. Together, we’ll celebrate the power of connection, growth, and shared experiences.

Ummi Akinpelu

Ummi, originally from Nigeria, is a devoted wife, a proud mother of three amazing children, and the visionary founder of Unghair and Aesthetics. Her salon is a trailblazer, being the first to offer professional hair and beauty treatments with exceptional care and expertise.

Hannah Murray-Playfoot 

As a Therapist, motivational speaker and award winning Wellness coach, Hannah has over a decade of experience supporting individuals and communities to improve their Mental Wellbeing. With a passion for self development and having experienced a Mental Health crisis in her 20’s, Hannah’s mission is to make sure Mental Health support is readily available and inclusive across all societies. She believes that with the right tools and understanding we can all become more self aware; finding our confidence, limiting our mind stress, reducing overthinking and building our resilience for the future.

Yinka Adeniran

Bosede Oluyinka Adeniran, popularly known as Yinka. Yinka is happily married with three children, ages 25 to 19+. She moved to UK with her children to join her husband in 2009 and has lived in Portsmouth City ever since.

Yinka is the Chief Executive Officer of an organization that provides care and is a registered Social Worker. Her Company’s name is Ultimate Care Agency, located at Fratton, Portsmouth. 

A Councillor currently serving in Charles Dickens Ward, Yinka was elected to Portsmouth City Council in May 2022 and is proud to make history as the first ever Black African Councillor. She engaged in lots of community work and in early 2023 formed a group called ‘Family Forum’  (formerly known as the Young Mother’s Forum). The Family Forum is a vibrant community based in Portsmouth, dedicated to empowering families through peer support, networking, and access to vital information. 

Sarah Roads 

Sarah is  founder and director of SLR Recruitment . As one of the members of Shaping Portsmouth and Thinking Trust, she  embodies the essence of leadership and empowerment.  Driven, knowledgeable, and selfless, she inspires her staff to strive for excellence in everything they do.

Sarah’s organisation SLR  Recruitment gives women the chance to create a work/life balance and  offers  its all female staff the chance to protect their work/life balance as they can also build their own businesses. 

Jen Sanchez 

Jen is the founder of Liberty Photography, a movement at the beginning of its global expansion, empowering women to step into their power, reclaim their visibility, and be truly seen. Having overcome devastating breakups, controlling relationships, burnout, and even the loss of her first business, Jennifer channels her experiences into helping others rise out of the dark, turn their own lights back on, and rediscover themselves. Her mission is to create a dream big enough to hold other people’s dreams within it, inspiring photographers and clients alike see themselves again and align with their true purpose.
